New Administrative Order on Highly Sensitive Documents, Administrative Order #2024-02

The Court has issued a new administrative order on the handling of Highly Sensitive Documents (HSD), updating guidance previously issued in Administrative Order #140, dated February 4, 2021. The new guidance, originating from the Judicial Conference of the United States’ Committee on Court Administration and Case Management, provides a standardized definition of an HSD, as well as other modifications in the handling of HSD’s. In short, the new order defines an HSD as a document or other material that contains sensitive, but unclassified, information that warrants exceptional handling and storage procedures to prevent significant consequences that could result if such information were obtained or disclosed in an unauthorized way. Administrative Order #140 is hereby rescinded.
